They only do a visual check for a cat- so as long as it looks like there is one (ie either a cat or a “false” cat) then all good. Some people seem to get away with doing away entirely.

Tbh Baz (Basil) passed the mot 12 ish months ago with the old exhaust and he is strikt but I am not worried.

I think that was either post 2006 or 2009 vehicles only as it was a legal requirement for all diesels to have DPF post 2006 (or 2009, can’t remember!). Didn’t see them mention cat though.
