Had another look at the AC tonight and have made some progress! Don't know what I did haha. Unplugged all the connectors in the heater control and AC button bit to test voltages. 13.8v at the AC switch.

Plugged everything back in and then noticed that when I pressed the AC button the fans came on full. Then tested the voltage at the compressor and was getting 13.8 volts. So gave the compressor clutch a push with my hand and it engaged!

So a couple of weird things. The compressor clutch only engages when given a push or a tap with the hammer. With the hammer, can feel the strong magnetic force sticking the hammer to it.

Had a look through the compressor manual and it looks like the compressor clutch gap has to be less than 1.3mm, and it's currently at about 10mm! Looks like I've got some shims to remove, must come from the factory with a full set of shims.

Also, the fans and AC clutch only seem to work when the blower is set on speed 1.

Anyone ever heard of this?

Any electrical gurus out there?

From looking at the electrical diagram, it looks like it is designed to only run the air con with the blower set at level 1. Which seems weird to me.



Follow the red highlighted (live) line on the left down through the blower switch, which cuts off to feed the AC on switch which eventually engages the compressor.

The electrical diagram is mirrored in the wiring, with the stage 1 blower wire (white) tagging off with another white wire to feed the AC on switch. Original wiring and plugs as well.
