      • Been busy with work and (insert various other lame excuses here) lately so havent done much with the van. I did change the clocks and took him for itv but thats about it. With this in mind i pushed on with the lights for inside.

The copper paint turned out how I wanted and a quick pass with the sandpaper has cut it back to silver in places and given them the weathered look I want.

Next is to cut the glass to size. I couldn't find my glass knife I had to resort to using a masonry drill instead, a little embarrassing given my trade but it gets the job done. Handy to know if you ever need to split some glass and you don't have the tool.

        • I bought some lights from the Chinese shop, the kind that go into an empty wine bottle for table decoration. I mounted the battery part in the top area and fastened them in the van. The green wire holding the battery in place will be changed for a tie wrap when I find the little plastic bastards

The idea is to let the boy find "treasures" from the beach and use these as miniture display cases for his artefacts. Bits of driftwood, unusual pebbles, dead starfish etc. Kind of like a shit Ripleys believe it or not.

And lit up. Total costings, 1.50 each for the boxes, 2 for the paint and 1.50 each for the lights.....8 euros in total.

                            • Its like Rics pallet wood, different and all the cooler for it. You've got a great beach hut feel going on there.

Thanks. It's where it gets used so fits in and feels good. If you scratch something it doesn't matter.
