I admire De Bono's thinking but his theories are flawed.
I'm more on a par with Rico Daniels. ....it's easier on the old brain.

                • The trims for the edges of the steps have just been delivered.

This means a good few hours of filing to round the edges over as they are quite sharp and will tear my foot open of I get in the van with no shoes on.

Shouldn't laugh, mine goes in for the clocks to be fixed and brakes and cv boots and God only knows what else today. Bye bye 600 euros...I'll bet. Curse you Karma.

Could you not recess / inlay them?

                        • They are across the front/riser part. The step/tred may have a piece inlaid eventually but grip tape will suffice for now.

                          • Checking back on the varnished pieces for the steps, they are drying nicely. I only gave them one coat as I want them to wear in quite quickly.

In particular I like the way the edges sand up and reveal a pattern. A bit of wear and tear and these will look just fine to me.

Not so easy to photograph though.

Almost worth all the sanding now.
