      • Just finished fitting an eBay special aluminium awning rail...

        It's pretty good for Ā£18 - although after ignoring the reviews (&#129318, I can now agree with them that the screws supplied are shit!

        It comes with a self adhesive back which is brill for getting it lined up (I had to chop it down by 60cm to 300cm as it was too long). I used some stainless screws, the supplied clear 'o' rings, and white tiger seal across the top (theory is any water that does ingress can escape underneath). [emoji106]

              Nice one. I take it those don't let the water in the back?

                Cheers chaps!

                I hope they don't... Sat them on a bed of clear sealant, and then filled them up from the back. If it does, it'll be getting in around the bulb - despite the rubber boot around it.

                I figured that if the water didn't force its way around the light fitting during driving then they should be okay... 🤞

                      • Thought I'd have a little clean up under the rear arches... Bit of underseal after a good wire brushing.

                        Went a bit further though;

                        • Took off the towbar (needs a good clean up and a hammerite), and off came the rear bumper. Going to remove the plastics from the bumper iron, clean everything up and paint as necessary.

                          While I was there the rear brakes looked a bit shitty - stripped it all off ready for new discs and pads, coat of paint for the calipers/carriers and a coat for the backing plates too. [emoji3]

                          • Good work - just lay off the hammerite unless you really like removing the towbar and re-painting it at regular intervals. Hateful stuff that seems to promote rust.

                              I surprised to hear this. I always rated the stuff as a good product. On the other hand, I've always thought you spoke sense and know your onions so...?
                              You had bad experiences with it?

                                Gonna be removing as much of the rust as possible with a brush attachment on a grinder first...

                                It would be a good excuse to get out of housework and shopping though! [emoji106]
