As a footnote I averaged 38.5 mpg in Scotland but only 35 in England. Think it's down to driving style [emoji48]

Just got back from a week in Scotland. Stopped in cruden bay, north of Aberdeen. Went as far as Inverness and the north of loch ness.

Today I replaced the rear discs and pads as they were pitted and seemed partially seized.
Also fitted new front dampers. Much better ride now, no banging from the front

As I hadn't got any scotchlocks I cut and repaired the wires with heat shrink crimps

The two fixings are as in the pictures and it clips over a lug at the front. Drained the oil out and when empty removed the old oil level sensor. It's held on with 3 Allen head setscrews. Removed with 5mm Allen key.

Quick update, yesterday I changed my oil and filter and while at it I replaced the oil level sensor. Jack the front up and put it on stands, drop the belly pan using the trolley Jack to support it, removed the sound deadening from the sump.
