And more on the French T4 forums as I'm a member of two over here in France. I did notice that your location isn't noted in your forum member details, but when you mentioned that you must have 'Homologated' I thought that you may be in France as well ........... but I guess you're in Spain judging by your build thread. And the headlight units I'm using have the 'Tourist Solution', whereby they are switchable LHD/RHD.

No worries on homologation by the way mate ........ as I'm in France, mine also must be up to spec, so are many of my other customers. The Hella units I'm using are already homologated and marked E1 for UNECE regulations. I'm not designing and building complete headlights .......... I'm just making a headlight assembly for the already approved headlight units.

Yes I will need lhd units, not sure about the tourist solution aspect but I am thinking fit them and see what happens at the next itv.
A friend withh a t4 just had to pay 340Euro for a solar panel on his roof. Needed an engineer's report and a smallish fee at traffico. That's how strict it is.
Fit them and wait and see.

You could even use the Desmond Dekker, the Israelites as a theme tune.....

I understand your concern Arfur over the 'I.T.V', Spain's vehicle inspection required every two years if a vehicle is between 4 and 10 years old, pretty much the same over here in France 'Contrôle Technique'. A regulation test to weed out vehicles that are deemed unroadworthy, because of faulty brakes, rust and in general poor condition. I doubt very much that they would penalise you for having upgraded performance headlights on your van. If the addition is already UNECE E1 approved, they can't fail your vehicle.

We also have the 'D.R.E.A.L' over here in France who's job is to validate it's conformity ( don't know what your version is ), they look at anything that may of been modified, or wasn't actually present when the vehicle left the factory. But I constantly see 'converted' vans ......... very badly made wooden interiors, that look as thought they'll fall apart at the slightest of knocks, yet they pass them !


I have my C.T. next year on my MultiVan, I'll have my long nose quad headlights on my van by then ......... if there should be an issue with them, I'll look into getting the design TUV approved. That way the headlights will officially be approved throughout Europe. But that will be expensive, I've already looked into it and can expect a cost of around €15,000 !


We shall see what transpires Arfur.
