turbo / exhaust removal

HI all i have a 1995 1.9td t4 and i have to do the exhaust gasket and i am just wondering is it possible to take the turbo off first to give me some room
or do i have to take it off with the manifold

I rebuilt the turbo on our ABL with out removing the manifold. Take the elbow off that connects to the front pipe first after you've removed the dull spring clips holding it to front pipe. Then it's three bolts from memory and the oil feeds and boost pipes.
