I have just bought a t4 1.9td abl I have been trying to get a full tdi converstion but quoted £3000 so any mods to the original engine that I could do to make it bit more usable with out killing the bank thanks guys

Message TommyP on here for either the TDi upgrade or modifying the ABL. He'll enthusiastically discuss both no doubt and if you're near Leicester could demonstrate both to you.

Hello and welcome to the forum, Theres a thread in the tech section about 1.9td tuning. How hands on are you as a few tweaks to the fueling and boost will do wonders for the ABL.

Oh shit yes, I’m all over this. Give me a couple hours and I can get that fucker to shift better than a standard Tdi can. Where are you based? I’ll gladly give you the info on how to do it and many on here would too.

£3k - yeah fuck that. I did my own for virtually free as I sold my old ABL engine to a sheep and recouped most of the cost even with rebuilding/refreshing the Tdi engine.

You can make the ABL go great, mine used to fly along better than most standard 2.5tdi’s much to my mates annoyance.

I’d play with what you’ve got before you throw mountains of money at the van.

You could transform it so it feels like you’ve converted the engine without stressing it.

If you fit a boost gauge you’ll know how your engine is doing when you tweak it. It’s so fucking easy it’s unreal and yes I know I’ve done a few but really, it’s very easy.

Tommy i love sound of this as iam not very techincal could anyone recomend good vw specialist that could carry out work for me iam based in scotland hopefully some one north of boarder could carry out work but willing to travel to get work done
