Si. It was good fun. But hard work building them. I used to get most of them for £0. Thrown many pinto engines away and 4 & 5 speed g/boxes. Now they are big buck's

Just a bit of an update. I had the MOT booked for the 26th of September but that didnt happen. I had moved the alternator to the left slightly to run inline with the AEB crank pulley but then had issues with the pas and went back to the ABL crank pulley. On Sunday the 25th i gave it what i hoped was its final road test and at about 7 that night it eat the alternator belt. POO.I'd forgotten to reshim the alternator to make up for the "machining" to the side of the bracket. What a twat. All sorted now, just been far too busy to get it in for test,

Me too. And modern motorcycle racing. Plastic progress more like?
All the machinery looks and sounds the same to me, there's none of the diversity that was evident before the big companies got involved, and gaudy corporate sponsorship became essential. The participants even all dress the same - drivers, models, mechanics - a motley sea of baseball caps and advertising. I never realised how popular Baseball is...
There's clearly some very clever engineers out there, centred in Warwickshire and Oxfordshire it seems, but I believe they are the commercialised tail end of the tradition of the amateur mechanical engineer that went into decline in the 1980's? Privateers who could innovate armed only with a lathe and a mill in their garden sheds.
Mind you medical science has progressed at pace - I've got an overdue MRI scan to book in for, as well as some vaccine jabs.
