Turned up yesterday - doesn't fit. not even close, It'll fit the standard turbo - but then, so will the standard hose!

    Blooming internet misinformation!

The inlet fitting on my turbo is 60 mm OD, this pipe that has turned up also has a 60mm OD.

Cheers for the map - is that based on these hateful stanadynes that you seem to determined to run? They might be a good injector in theory, but not the set I have.

Apologies Reg, the V40 pipe is ideal for the K14 48mm. I'll buy it from you and make good my err.
Or fit to your mates '03 plate and thank me later.
I got the larger 60mm inlet from the Volvo specialist (it was labelled V70 / V40) when i ended up buying all their older parts.
Its on Colin01332's van currently and he's now in France until the NY, so I cannot give you the part number off of it. Sorry. I'll text him!
I'm running K&N cone filters too which you have an aversion to.

Yes Stanadynes, they will clean up and run sweet.
The local dolphins will perform a sea based jig as you cleanly rip up the North Devon B roads!

Anyway, you've been running badly for 18 months what do you expect, poor Stanadynes but those 0.24's would of been choked & ruined!
Please try the map with those injectors FIRST for a couple of weeks at least and lets get the van running properly, (meaning full boost in your case)
Adding 0.24s is a different ball game - check your belts, tensioners and waterpump.

Mapping for the 0.24's is done as I'm still running these maps on my own day van.
You'll need a correctly sized and operating IC too!
I'm moving up to 0.26's in the NY and the 12mm pumphead.

      Got a question for you.
Changed my belts, tensioners and waterpump. Injectors within tolerances. All is now timed up to 53-57 on VCDS at correct fuel temp.
Noticed on 01 Engine Channel 1 that the SOI injection is bouncing a little +/-1mg/s. Could this be the N146 needs changing / cleaning?

No idea - I know nothing about TDI engines what's an N146? I would query the 53-57 timing if the break pressures have changed from stock

Ref the intake pipe - could it be the one I originally linked to?

The injectors have been abused for far more than 18 months, the van was running much worse when I bought it - unplugged duff maf for at least 12 months previous and the white smoke cold start up was already an issue.

55 is perfect at 5.5deg BTDC
          I'll research the N146.

Mine's like the V40 one delivered, same solid rubber hose and length, same shaping and fittings just 60mmID for turbo. Perfect. Will get PN#.

          Crikey....
The Stanadynes cleanup and perform well. Yours of course will not now! Just not keen on jumping into 0.24's unless it's running 100%.

          • My inlet pipe for the Volvo K14 thats now fitted to Colin01332's van is more like this;

            https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Volvo-S40...8AAOSw4DJYiKTY

I've sent him a text and emailed him for the part number.

I'll buy the V40 pipe from you. They're perfect for the T4 K14 and only £2.50 at the scrappers if you can find them!

              • £2.50, nothing has ever been £2.50 at a scrappers - parts always start at a fiver unless they fit into tool boxes/pockets.

What's a scrappers? Do you still get them up north?

                • Just had a call from the people who have made my oil return hose - pretty sure they said £69.12

I really hope I misheard them.

At ours, all the pipe work is £2.50... its like dune jumping as a kid, I just love it.
No need to steal at ours. Everything's priced to sell.

                    Salvage yard & yes.
Got a few around Derby & Nottingham.
My Volvo buds have just text me.
                    V70 2.5 tdi just in...

Picked up a decent Saab GT2559 Monday for £40 with oil & water feeds.

But still looking for suitable calipers...

Just realised ,..... thats your racing van budget blown for the next 576 years!
Assuming your willing to invest 12p per year?

                        • Yep budget blown.

And it doesn't really fit well - but it does at least fit.

As does the rest of the turbo and lines. Not sure I've ever done such an awkward twat of a job - even once I'd clocked and re-clocked all the different part of the turbo in order, fitted parts in sequence, partially fitted other parts, then had to fit other bits before I could finally fit the previous parts properly then tweaked lines with grips and jemmy bars I then had to try and fit the four nuts securing the bolts to the turbo....

two of the nuts will only fit if they are wound on as the housing is lowered onto the manifold AND before they did this one had to be turned down 3mm for clearance.

At least it's on now - half the fittings still need to be tightened.

Doesn't matter as the inlet gasket still hasn't arrived.

Its just the way you tell it and write it Reg... creases me up,
I assume you went with the Volvo exhaust manifold?
Did you manage to make up a DP to suit?

Glad my working in outside in the dark gives you some amusement, the novelty of lying in a cold puddle was beginning to wear thin.

Yep volvo manifold - what it really needs is a proper manifold.... on the cards but I'll build one for a proper turbo - should I go VNT?

I've the materials for a downpipe. Bought a new TIG! No Argon though as I've got no way of collecting any, gas cylinder transportation will be tricky on a bicycle. If only I had a van. or even a mate with a van?

Devon...... you still run pony and traps round there mate, you should burrow one of those to get your argon.

A new tig welder does this means a new collection of cheesy sausage stainless exhausts could be on the cards?
