Not convinced the lumpy idle is ECU related, so with the KISS mantra resounding in my head I look for air in lines because the rubber section joining banjo to hard blue pipe was weeping before I tightened the jubbly.

First look for air in lines, nothing really obvious but because of the sleeve on the diesel pipes I can only see a 1cm long section so small bubble might be missed.

The copper washers are still the originals so I do the basics, replace the rubber pipe because it is rock hard and the copper washers on the banjo are replaced.

It is a lot better, but not 100%, there's a slight miss once every 5 fires, gotta be an injector. Odd thing is from cold it runs fine, about 30 seconds in it starts to miss.

My eldest - who has zero interest in engines, came out to the garage looking for something whilst the van was sat nearly idling and with a quizzical look he said

I was so chuffed, it's in there, the boy has natural talent, I've just got to tease it out.... perhaps I'll let him do a CV joint, that'll put him off for life.



But on the plus side...the white stinking smoke on idle is gone, those bloody stannas, I swore they were dogshit and I was right, even some unknown worn ACV injectors run cleaner.

I'm going to get the 240s sorted and fit them.
