Got a twin usb/blanking plate fitting from www.coolcamperhire.com.comes with wiring and inline fuse for £11.99.Thought that was good value seeing as a blanking plate is £8.95 off eBay.Wired it in using an ignition live source, same as my rear usb’s as I haven’t got a split charge system, tested it on my boys busted screen I phone as I didn’t want to blow up my phone and happy days.Comes on/off with ignition and looks neat and tidy in the dash.Another little job done for a bit more practicality inside.
1amp at a 12v source apparently.I’m a dunce and very much learning when it comes to electric, but if my info’s right it’s okay for phones.Well,it didn’t blow my boys phone up anyway.lol..I don’t need an ash tray unit.Took a photo before putting it back.Should of actually cleaned it all as it does look dusty.
Good to know. Cheers. 1A is a slow charge with newer phones needing 2A and the latest requiring 3 Amps. When there's 2 ports one might be 1A the other 2A. The 1A ports may often not charge quickly enough for the drain used by apps like GPS , Maps etc..

I know my rear chargers are like you said active.1amp over 2.1amp.So these maybe the same, but the website says 1amp.But the advert in VWT said 2.1amp so not positive.I’ll use gps on my phone soon and post the results.

I asked because I bought a cheap branded single DIN radio/CD/Aux & USB system & lobbed the old cassette deck unit only to find the USB couldn't actually charge my Samsung phone with the Location Settings ON! FFS - chocolate teapot tech!
Quick update.Have ran sat nav on my I phone connected to the new usb charger for 30mins.Did actually gain charge. So does the job fine in my opinion ‘for what it’s worth’

I’ll be got one of these to fit to my mates T4.
Don’t suppose you took any photos of the cables that you connected/wires it too?
If you pop the fascia off the heater control panel. The ignition live to the heater fan control is the yellow/black wire. This is what I connected to.Then Just earth the negative.Theres an earth point near/behind the steering column
Had a go at a front wing today.both are pretty rotting on the arch but solid everywhere else.had a spare wheel arch repair panel that was sent by mistake so free repair and thought I can make that work fingers crossed.Wing off and erm that’s why the go rotten. So cut out the worst and welded my fettled arch repair in.some filler to smooth out the agricultural welding few coats of primer and I was running out of Time so coated in clear to protect it till I finish it next weekAnd van back together. Not perfect yet but hopefully another day next week of prepping and should be presentable.A lot better than a rotten wing anyway.
Been fairly busy with the van,Down to the New forest for a week, only issue was my drivers side rear brake started grinding.New pads and discs on.Had new splash guards, but can I get those b’stard little fecking bolts out for them.Job for another day me thinksAlso, had acquired new wheels with the help of willtheyfit.com.As recommended by the Sausage.I figured on a high offset set of Mercedes wheels to tuck them in but also, get an 8.5 inch et54 wheel with a 245 40 tyre inside the rear wheelarch.Had to bend the handbrake cable hanger further in to clear the wheel as it was 21mm further in than my old 7.5 wide wheels. Not a lot of room left, but enough for the wheels to move fully up into the tub.Half way through and spot the difference.Test drive was positive with no rubbing.Vital statistics are front 8.0 18 et50 with 215 45 18 tyres.Rear 8.5 18 et54 with 245 40 tyres.Am running some 14mm top rubbers with the 5inch Faulkner’s at the mo,until i’m sure nothing is rubbing, then hopefully drop it down to 3mm top rubbers again.
