    Not T4 - Golf V6 4mo

    Seeing as not much else goes on around here I figured I may as well stick more useless shite up.

    My smoke-about:

    Bought it October 2019 for £450. Listed with a host of electrical faults. I was pissed up on whiskey when I bought it so the next day I trundled down to Essex with the work turd and a mates car transporter trailer. It had been stood a long while and the previous owner was a car man (Ford master tech) and had replaced it with a mk5 R32. He also had a genuine escort Mexico he showed me and a mk1 gti on the drive. Waffled cars for hours.

    Got it home and threw it up the drive. Few days later I stuck a battery on it and it’s ran ever since. Eats coils every now and then but had a load I got spare for a bargain off eBay so just stuck a full set in.

    It had a few other minor issue which I’ve sorted along the way like a noisy heater fan so I stuck a new one in.

    Had full discs and pads all round and the rear arm brake pipe on the o/s. Serviced and flat panel K&N filter.

    At the start of covid I got a bargain bundle from somewhere on the east coast. BDE engine (same as mine and most desirable as they have the newest version of VVT), 4mo gearbox and full rear subframe, arm and Haldex assembly. When I got it home I noticed that the ARB was twice the thickness of my standard one and had ‘H&R’ on it. Stuck that on the car and that transformed the handling. Did the Audi TT cast wishbone upgrade around the same time. Drives lovely

      Steering rack let go yesterday and threw all the fluid on the floor. Got an Audi TT 225 rack on its way for £75 as they lose a whole turn from lock to lock so that’ll be great for the sportier drive. Just gives the ESP the hump if you try a spirited drive and forget to turn it off.

        you could maybe fix that by recalibrating the steering angle sensor with vagcom

          Second hand then mate? Mine was £150 for refurbished with £100 sub fee.

            That’s what I thought but loads of info to the contrary online. Wish it was that simple. Some say about using the TT abs module and all sorts but as far as I can tell from what I’ve read so far, with the exception of disabling ESP entirely is that there’s no definitive resolution.

              Yeah second hand with 6 months warranty. I might send it to a firm I’ve used before to recondition it. Probably won’t though.

                  You’re not ready for a V6 4mo, as much torque as the PD150’s have they’ll never ever be a patch* on a 4mo hahahahaha!!!

                  Got the new rack fitted now but it needs tracking. Got a bloke I know to fit it. He’s a shit mechanic and a **** of a person but I nailed him down to doing it for £60 so I can’t complain that he didn’t swap my track rods and ends over or get it tracked up, I’ll do that. First reports are brilliant though, much sharper and the steering is heavier giving a sportier feel.

                  *I had a 165 r-tech rolling road mapped Mk4 Gt Tdi when I was 18.
