  • My Red Caravelle

Not really ever put anything on here about my van so thought I would create a thread now as I have completed quite a bit of work on the interior recently. I have had the van since 2017 and the one issue that I havent yet solved is the really bad laquer peel so this is a job that will hopefully get sorted out next winter - I had planned to have it sorted by now but spent most of last year on Chemo so everything has been put back a bit and now we have this covid-19 which has done me a favour in one way as it has given me time to get some stuff sorted on the van whilst I am on my 12 week isolation.

I will start with a summary of the past few years and then more detailed on the recent work.

          Welcome aboard.
Glad you're recovering with the resolve to keep the dream alive. Nice looking longnose. The bed base forwards across the Caravelle seating is a good idea.

Back up to date now, under seat speaker boxes and sliding door cards covered in 4 way stretch carpet.

The kids old toybox covered in 4 way stretch and re purposed in the van as a replacement for the horrid Wickes base units. USB and accessory sockets on the left end and on the front. Little home built unit to house the cups and somewhere to put the small gas stove to boil my kettle.

Bed extension made that fits into the headrest bars and the back of the folded seats plus the in boot bed base forms the rest of the bed.

Electric hook up installed for the times when its available on a camp site or we need it (use the 12v mainly). Recycled the parts from an old tent hook up box and used the appeture provided by VW for the inlet.
