Yes they’re Caddy caps. Had to buy a new set of 17mm bolts though. No bad thing as my locking nuts were Fubar so got full set from Amazon for £18.99. The locking bolts I now have are ok for the caddy caps but the old ones were too big anyway.
I have three spares so thinking of trying out colour coding, silver first.
Started work on this rear rack today. Bought a Thule Easybase bike rack for £45 and stripped off the lights and bike storage tracks, supports etc. Also bought a 420L roadie case (like the ones in Breaking Bad!) for another £45. Will mount lights and reg plate and probably solar panel too, and add straps to the tailgate for stability.
I decided to go this route because on our last trip I found there was too much stuff inside the van whilst travelling. I did keep the middle seats in because there was a need to use them whilst away, but having the fridge, suitcase, pack away kitchen and a huge awning inside meant the poor old dog had nowhere to move.
I’d used a soft Fiamma cargo bag on our T25 but it was too small for the awning, and it leaked. Then I saw the Thule frame and as they’re £200+ new with bike fittings I thought £45 was too good to pass up. Apparently though they’re rated at 50kg capacity they’ll take a man standing on it! This black box is heavy but not much more than an Ultra box, and again it seemed a steal at £45, it even has heavy duty castors in it but they’re on the side, I’ll move them to the base, so the whole think can be wheeled around in one piece, and I’ll have mouse proof storage for my camping gear - the awning, kitchen, chairs, table and thermal wraps. It’s probably fine as is but I’ll be happier adding ratchet straps to the rear of the roof for bracing and probably easier to fit the box single handed.
I’ll also wrap it to match the van [emoji106]
