Isn't it too cold/damp for paint at the moment Si?

                • Never thought of it before but when i was doing it and talking to the ole chap about rust prevention he said drill a hole for a blanking plug in the inner arch in the door shut and "flood it" with cavity wax. A good tip that just never entered my head.

                  • Some of the water running down from the scuttle tray enters via factory drain holes, into and behind the rear inner arches and down into the front of the sills Si, so corrosion from the inside out in that area is inevitable. I bet there isn't a non-molested, non-garaged overnight van in the UK, that isn't displaying rust blisters there?

It's a pitiful design, and when you next remove your front wings you'll be able to confirm this for yourself by shooting anti-corrosion fluid down the newly exposed drain holes. Or if you are feeling brave, I imagine it would work equally well by pouring a bucket of water into your scuttle tray, and watching it drip out of the sills after the compost has first had a good soaking.

But hey, I'm just repeating myself, so I'll make a real effort not to mention it again.

                          Road salt is truly corrosive.
