Side tracked by a certain lady's 4motion. Bought with steering angle code and light on(helped get the price down). Got one from the breakers for a tenner as TPS want 368 plus vat. Anyway got the wheel and airbag off and found that the Vdub "specialist" that had changed the steering rack and removed the wheel to put it straight hadn't centralised the steering angle sensor before fitting the wheel. Theres a little window in it and it has to be showing yellow to be correct. Redid that fitted the wheel and airbag cleared the codes and all is well. I'll keep the used angle sensor for Justin. Perhaps i'm getting the hang of this OBD lark. Checked the toe in(tracking) and at least they got that right.
I don't have Vagcom just a VAG group code reader. Does all the stuff that has a fault code memory. Just cant go as deep as measuring blocks but keeps me ahead of what most clients throw at me. But yes was pleased to find a simple fix. You'd think a Vdub outfit would know about the little window. Its in the Haynes for goodness sake.
