Cab roof lining needs looking at as it's sagged.

    • Right so I had a vw mechanic round this morning, stripped the injection pump down as far as he could to see if it could be repaired in situ. He wasn't confident it could be done at the side of the road. It was still booked in with Kent Volkswagen around the corner. We'd drove it down and left it with them. The verdict being the pump spline bush and seals have perished and it will need to be taken down to injection developments in Bridge to be repaired. Now I am left with a conundrum. Do I get KVW to strip the pump out and take it down and do the cambelt whilst they're at it or just take it down to ID to get the pump fixed.

      • It's a smaller bill in the long run if you have all done in one hit as its less work if it's already in bits.

              • Update.... Van goes to injection development on Wednesday, £120 to have the pump repaired. AA are twats and won't upgrade my free membership through my bank, I have to upgrade my bank account instead. Also they tell me that homestart will only recover to my nearest garage and not one of my choosing. I ask what if my problem can t be fixed at my local garage and has to go to a specialist. I'm told I will be responsible for recovering it myself.

                • That don't sound right to me. I couldn't get my car started at home and the patrol man said he could take me to a garage, i didn't want to go to one i didn't know or trust and the patrol man said he would take me to which garage i wanted. I expect he would have said no if it was miles away but surely they should take you to a place that can fix the problem. I'd ring again and speak to someone else, maybe the person you spoke to was new.

                  • Attacked the suspension this morning, off with the standard old springs and shims, on with the new Vogtland - 40mm Springs.

Before and after.. Not a massive difference but hopefully it'll settle in lower over the coming weeks.

So on to the wheel issue. I knew it wouldn't go smoothly as nothing seems to on this project. Hub adapters bolted, wheel on and loads of movement. Bloody wheel bolts are too long, only by a few mm but still too long. Back the interweb to order some more.

Anybody want any m12x1.5 wheel bolts, locking bolts with a 28mm thread?

Did you use the shims as well as the spring? How much weight have you got in your van I would of thought it would be a bit lower than that.

Have you fitted wheel spacers with steel wheel and if so would be interested to see some photos

Haven't got much weight in the van at all. Had four Alloys and tyres, full laminate floor, tool chest etc. Probably close on 100kg. I hope it just settles abit.
