I'm thinking about bringing mine up so if I trim a little off the plastic section that sits over the catches it will sit on top.

Buy a t4 they said... It'll be fun they said.

Ah I don't have a plastic trim on the back of mine, I just painted the back frame black, if I'm honest I didn't know there was a plastic one [emoji23]

Who me Daley? It'll be boxed off and hidden by the bed, o/s will have all the electrics on it.

        • Right so after a pretty disastrous day yesterday with the gear linkage bushes I started the day all positive and went down to the garage I got the van from, they lent me a mechanic for an hour and we attacked the bush/cup from several angles. Ended up taking the bush back off the t bar and putting it into the cup first. The. Then we drilled out a few mm from the bush and after some pressing, pulling and hammering got the t bar on the ball (in the cup).
Got it home to put on the van and the bloody thing popped off, managed to gett it back on and bolted up, noticed a couple more bushes (including the one right under the gear stick have excessive play in them so they'll be next. Did the short shift mod and it's like driving a car.

          • Stay positive, Nate. Remember, every day is a school day.
The short shift really makes a difference to the drive, doesn't it?

It really does, I've got another bush to replace, the one I need is £22. Bloody buses. Need and endless supply of money.

                        • I will do, I've got the blanking plates but didn't put them on. More concerned about the bloody diesel pump leak I now have after lubing the throttle cable.

And/or endless supply of patience. Bully has been off the road since new year while I faff around with stuff, just like you.
Couldn't take him out now if I wanted to! He just sits there on the drive, taunting me.

You're making great progress though, Nate. Just remember why you're doing this and don't sweat that small stuff.

Throttle shaft leak - very common.

Google 'regcheeseman gov mod' - should find a pictorial guide to strip the pump lid

You can get a bush and seal on ebay or I can send you a set.

Unless you are heading devon way for summer, there's a bloke down here that can do the work for sensible money and make your van much fasterer in the process.
