Had to postpone sorting the 2.5 AJT alternator / regulator out this morning (mate couldn't free up the ramp due to another job and the poor quality of factor components delaying completion!) so postponed until Saturday afternoon. In the mean time I looked for pricing up some spares and found this for £66 (BARGAIN) plus NO EXCHANGE...

HELP WANTED - Need some measurements for my wheel & tyre x-referencing.
The above is the standard tyre and wheel on the van and I'm looking for the
Fender clearance in mm
Wheelwells clearance in mm
You can see these marked on the wheel diagram. With the correct measurements I can play around with new sizes compared the OEM.
Can anyone assist?
Tommo , Si or others running standard rims.
Ta in advance.

Received today from Cali Campers ; VW T4 Front Torsion Bar Support and Ball Nut
Thread length 173mm with the ball nut on 148mm, thread is M18x1.5, ball nut head 27mm , up to 160Nm torque dependant on condition and how lubricated the threads are. 1 newton meter N m = 10.20 KGf.cm . Approximately 10mm of torsion bar adjustment relates to 25mm ride height.
I can start having a think about making it electrically or hydraulically adjustable.Last edited by Activ8; 25 January 2019, 06:14 PM.

Still thinking about the suspension but intrigued by the forces placed on the torsion bar support and ball nut.
So the starting point has got to be whats fitted to my red delivery van (ex-Coca Cola), how is that interpreted and what if anything can be done.
What actually have I got fitted to the van, so, found the fuse box cover and found a website that decodes the factory 3 digit codes;
In no particular order -
PRCode: 0G5 = Gearshift lever
PRCode: 0GE = Emission standard EU3
PRCode: 0J3 = Increased payload
PRCode: 0ZN = Transmission ratio high geared
PRCode: 1AB = Power brake
PRCode: 1BA = Standard suspension/shock absorption
PRCode: 1G2 = Steel spare wheel with original equipment tires
PRCode: 1LV = Disc brakes front
PRCode: 1NE = Wheel center cover
PRCode: 1X0 = Front wheel drive
PRCode: 2PG = Steering wheel
PRCode: 5RV = Right exterior mirror: aspherical
PRCode: 8AC = Radio beta
PRCode: 8GL = Alternator 120 A
PRCode: 8L1 = Bright rod antenna
PRCode: B0N = Component parts set complying with vehicle type for Great Britain various parts
PRCode: C7X = Steel wheels 6J x 15 H2 load rating 810kg offset 55
PRCode: G0C = 5-speed manual transmission
PRCode: H5T = Tires 195/70 R15 C 104/102R
PRCode: J0R = Battery 380 A (80 Ah)
PRCode: MP2 = 5-cylinder diesel engine 2.5 L/65 kW TDIbase engine is T7K
PRCode: QG1 = Service interval prolongation
PRCode: T7K = 5-cylinder diesel engine 2.5 L unit 074.5
PRCode: X2B = National sales program Great Britain
Plus, I now know its actually fitted with a 120A alternator!
You learn something new everyday..... well thats saved me a hassle tomorrow and fitting a 90A!Last edited by Activ8; 25 January 2019, 03:02 PM.

Fitted a new 120A alternator today,
Bought a HELLA 8EL 012 427-541 Alternator, 14V/120A.
Going to now refurb the old unit and add it to the spares "pile".
For those interested you can upgrade from the 90A without upgrading the looms (the looms are identical on ETKA) but a different loom is required for the 150A option.
I assume its just the main cabling to the battery - any one done it?

I found the 90A HELLA for £61 & the 120A for £123 delivered outright purchase Si... best I found locally was £133+VAT exchange, surcharge was £60 & I'd never heard of the brand. Just found a new reg online for £4.79 delivered so a cheap rebuild too!!
