I was looking for some spares for TommyP and found this 2K tin of Miele Red. Its got to be 10 years old and not opened since I collected the van from the paint shop. As I havent received my black paint yet would this still be ok to practice with?

I cannot believe this forever on-going bonnet issue... ive had to duck and dive these posts because it has made my anxiety go through the fucking ROOF! I really hope you get this resolved soon Activ... i really feel your pain buddy. Is it safe to say its better just replacing the bonnet then? Or wrapping it?? ... anything BUT slapping a bra on it!

All is well and cool nothing to be anxious about bud .... Im learning the mysterious art of bodywork and painting. I could buy a new , 2nd hand etc bonnet but wanted to get my eye in so to speak. Im chilled about it. Its a great piece to work on and learn. Normally I couldn't give a hoot even the post bra bonnet doesnt bother me.

I’m painting my van at the mo, and need to put about 3-4 coats on..,and inbetween each coat I will have to sand the whole van. Only done it once so far and yes I did cut through. But not a problem, as it needs more coats anyway.
my way of doing with basecoat is
1. Sand back with 320 grit
2.then primer.
3. Sand back with 320-400
4. Then more primer.
5 sand back with 600
6. Then paint.
7. Sand back with 600
8. Paint again
9 then laquer.
10.sand back with 1200
11.. Sand back 1500
12. Sand back with 2000
13Sand back with 2500
14. Cut
15. polish.
or you could be lazy like me and just use rustoleum.
