I’ve got the laser kit, just bought it and not used it yet. Good quality kit.
Until now I’ve used a bit of 25x25x5 angle with a feeler gauge. Works perfect.
Rob: what do you mean you’ve bent some? Did you use the sprocket holding tool?

Slowly getting there now .
A couple of pics for you .
Nice shiny copper manifold nuts .
Rocker cover given a freshen up .
Inlet manifold freshened up , diesel pipes fitted , new auxiliary belt fitted too .
I was missing the gasket for the egr valve pipe ( exhaust manifold side ) a few O rings missing too , supposedly a complete head gasket kit .
So unfortunately that’s stopped play for today , hopefully if I have the time, it will be up and running towards the end of next week .

All back together and up and running , sounding very healthy and the best it’s ever sounded .
One small issue is that there’s a slight misfire that only happens after the engine is revved to 2.5/3k ( I don’t want to rev it any higher with no load on it )
The misfire happens after the revs come back to idle , there’s a misfire and then the idle settles.
Im thinking pump timing , I need to find someone local with VCDS who can plug it in and see what’s happening .
