Nothing wrong with that 'Morris Minor' look Arfur .......... in fact, I quite like it. Nothing comes close to the natural look and feel of wood mate. And the cab is looking brilliant btw, I've always liked the interior of my vehicles ( particularly the front ) being a dark colour. I feel when driving that' it's far less distracting to have non reflective surfaces on or around the dashboard area. I used to have a Lotus Esprit many years ago and it had a black leather interior, in bright sunlight all I could see through my windscreen was my dashboard because of the glare ! Made things very difficult to see in direct sunlight.
There's a reason why high end sports cars and rally cars have black suede dashboards

Burgmeister, this is the bumper paint. Sorry for the late reply. It's still now a little tacky even after 3/4 weeks. It sticks to the roof lining a little if it's been warm.
Not done much to the van as I've been working and camping, yay. Did this to hold my phone cable. Idea she found in Facebook.
Amused me greatly this.
And the vinyl didn't even make it close to August. It's on its arse already. Bubbling up and peeling away. Dont do it.Me cago en la madre que te parió!

not sure if the picture is too dark but this is a temp sender it from Lidl.
I returned to the van after it was parked up for the day and it was so hot inside all the readouts said 88. Including the time/clock!
Returned to normal after ten mins with window open.Me cago en la madre que te parió!

So it's been a while since I did any work on Adolfo and I am booked to go here in July www.weekendbeach.es . So it's time to make progress.
First up is to paint the roof. With a roller. I know, I know......people are going to hate me for it but......I don't care.
Before I can start on the roof I first want to lower the roof rack.
It sticks up too high and I don't like it. Further, it catches on the garage door where I store out tools and equipment.Me cago en la madre que te parió!

Just awful. I don't want to get rid of it because I need it and it also has an inbuilt awning.
Both side slide out as above (the other side only 40cm...handy for drying my wetsuit, or it would be if I had one but I don't surf).
I slide them out, throw a tarp over and instant shade for the roof, keep it all cooler in the mid-day sun.Me cago en la madre que te parió!

So i am chopping the brackets and welding them so it all sits tighter
now I have the measurements I can do this later.
Rack off, he looks naked.
On with everybody's favourit part....sanding.
The stuff that I imagine looks like mold is in fact tree sap from pine trees. Got to be ten years worth here. You can't remove it with water as it's resinous but don't worry, I have a solvent for that.Me cago en la madre que te parió!

fast forward two (painfull) hours and it's off, sanded and ready to go.
Good old hamerite. Strong and reliable.
Let him have a little sunbathe, warm him up.
Weapon of choice. Wasn't cheap but if you are going down this road you may as well give yourself the best possible chance of victory. Not a time to be going down the Chinese shop.
Ahhhhh, the point of no return. I keep telling myself that it's not as if I'm cutting the roof off or owt like that. Still, deep breath......and begin.Me cago en la madre que te parió!
