For the speaker grills - Why not - Old (but v large) scallop shells with multiple holes drilled through Arf - apologies but I'm trying my best to be artistically creative!!

I've been busy the last few weekends.
First up, I finally cut a mirror for the frame I had previously covered in my re-recycled Ricrhys coffee sacks.



So I fitted this and mounted it in the van.

I also finished and fitted her Betty plaque.



Along with couple of others we aquired along the way.

This void made the speakers rattle so I cut a few pieces of wood to create a speaker box.



Lined the new box with pieces of foiled backed camping mat I had left from the roof.

Then put the side panels back in.



This meant I could start to fill in the gap at the wheel arch.


Which is where this comes in. Found at the bins this has real patina, not that fake shit I keep painting on everything.

So I cut what I needed and fitted some temporary hinges untill I can find the ones I want.

Then test fit them.



Knowing where I stand I can now fit the hidden plug socket inside.


Here it is. All shiney and plastic. Nasty. Chinese shop, of course.

Since I needed to paint the bottom half of the new boxes I thought I would paint my tailgate panel. It's one of the first things I made and it seems a long time ago now.



First a coat of matt grey



Over again with a slight darker shade.



Finally a few more passes with an almost black grey. Woodgrain effect...again....but it needs to fit with the rest of the van.

The speaker grilles have been treated to a coat of silver, followed by a blow over with some bronze before another light dusting of silver.
All left over rattle cans. No expense spent.

All this and he is still a van.

There are a few other things passed. The tv has been ripped out as the baking heat has killed it. I will buy another, hopefully with a DVD built in. I will make this quick to remove so it too doesn't die.

I had placed an old dinosaur toy in the grass by the bins so I could watch and chuckle as it made people jump. A little light hearted joke.
