looks better in real life, very shiney. You could do any old shit effect and once it's hurried in lacquer it looks ok.

Today's lesson on how to devalue your vehicle consists of building a tv cabinet. Not sure if that's the right name for it but roof mounted hatch for a drop down tv with intregrated storage seemed long winded.


This is the basic frame. The large hole in the middle will have a door to which I will mount the telly. This is an idea I saw on here (sorry, I can't remember whose idea it was but thanks....it's a belter so feel free to claim it). It will mount to the roof at the back of the van and the tv will fold down against the tail gate. I just want somewhere to play Mario kart and dvds etc.

Here I added dividers to create different sections.




The large sections will form storage accessed from the front. In between there is a hole for the old light from the cabin.....waste not want not etc. There are two spaces either side accessable only when the tv is down. These will hold my mini-snes and it's controllers and dvds. The two final boxes will house a couple of downlighters. All should conect up with one plug so can be removed if i need more space when in van mode, though it sits flush with the opening so no loss of load height.

Now i need to carpet it inside and out and start wiring it.

It was me posted the drop down tv mate. I made one for my van. You will need to put wee struts or lock it back some way as it will keeps swinging about as you move in van. I have cupboard struts in mine to stop it swinging
