45 or 53 is the bit I replaced. Keep one in the glove box now.

        Ah, a drawing, so handy.
        Middle drawing:
Part 42 has popped out, looks fine but who knows. Bet 45 is to blame.
41 looks good as does 49. That's my confusion. 49 is a rectangular opening that has 41(round) rattling round in it. That looks bloody wrong from new. I assumed that there was something within it but by the looks of it no. Mine looks as if its cast alloy. Am I missing something?

41 and 42 looked ok on ours so just did 45. I compared the new balls to those on the van and couldn't see any wear. The bush 45 fell apart but the balls were still rock hard.

Now then, whats the chances of me doing this without getting under the van?

If your doing the ones on the top of the box its just a case of leaning in over the bonnet slam panel. It took longer to think about it and get the tools than it did to change the bush.

Cheers, that the plan. To be honest I reckon its the rain that slowing me down. Ta
Oh yeah and spotting which bushes I need exactly. I'll get there.

Done it. Well it works. Haven't actually driven it yet. Socket type bush into bracket using a vice and a bit of poking with a blunt screwdriver. Easy. Getting small ball into that socket on the van was a bugger but a bit of wood behind the socket stopped that moving and when an 18" lever didn't work a 3' did. Slowest job is putting the gear lever shroud etc back on. I know it didn't need to come off now but was anticipating pulling the whole lot of. Wife moved my neat pile of bits on the flor and they are in the wrong order. Sorted.. Ta chaps
