These days Im old and lazy, so drive a range rover sport most of the time. Joke is its probably as quick as the GTIs I had back in the day, at least til you get to a B-Road.

Nice to see the mk2, the missus wants a set of them wheels on her mk2 gti.

        I like this!

So this is the one that I wish I didnt have to sell...
A 1965 reliant scimitar coupe rod with a 3.5 rover engine and lt77 5 speed box jag power lock diff. 9"wide rear wheels (look massive don't they!!) I saw the car being built and saw her in the press and fell in love. She went missing for a number of years but popped up for sale near bristol so I hopped on a train and off I went. Move on a few years and lack of use leading to deterioration of the car meant I had to sell her for her good. I had spent a fortune on mods (edelbrock carb inlet offenhauser rocker covers etc)

Now I drive my remaining scimitar (more a part of myself than some parts of my anatomy!!) and ness my t4.

Got any more pics of the 1965 Coupe Rod Greeny? What's the history behind the design , was it a race version / drag strip version for the US market?

                Will dig some out.
She was built as a normal se4a with a v6 Essex Ford engine and a 4+overdrive gearbox used by city of london council for a couple of years (had the green logbook!). Sold s few times and ended up in a bit of a state... then quite a famous rally driver bought her to restore and modify (can't remember the name at the moment and ain't got the paperwork anymore) he did loads of work the v8 the box the diff....
He either got bored or owed a guy called Colin Watson money and Colin ended up with her. It is shortly after this my relationship with the car starts...
Colin's nick name was Colin wide arch Watson so he did what he does and put the arches on, grp escort twink fronts and grp escort forest stage rears
Married to the fat wheels and stiffer springs. The car was nearly done and the reliant sabre scimitar owners club were putting together a club stand for the nec classic car show....
My dad and me attended the show and saw this car nearly finished (inside needed trimming but the paint wheels a pair of lake pipes and roof were there, I was in love!!! The car appeared in practical classics and I believe a few other mags.

Colin did what a lot of people do he fell out with the club and sold everything.
The car disappeared for a number of years. Until a mate told me it had re appeared and was for sale i spoke to the seller (not at all what you would expect at all brown nylon pants brown shirt and brown tank top..... think Roy Cropper)
Argument with the wife we already had 3 or 4 scimitars.... and I am off in a train to Keynsham Bristol, drove her back and soon paid out for new tyres as they were so perished there was chunks of rubber falling off the carcass on the front (I did wonder why the car didn't want to corner with out pressing straight ahead)

So there she is a brief story of the car if I can find them I will add the practical classics story.

                  A couple more pics

The red convertible sabre is another of Colin's creations, this car also a v8 but this one an auto (cos there wasnt enough room in the foot well for a clutch peddle) was crashed by his daughter after a few years had the body ripped off a shot of nitrous added and was turned into the table and chairs that is "fast food" and is in the Guinness book of records as fastest furniture!

                      Cheers Greeny.
Yes I can sympathise with your loss, a rather unique history too....

We could as a forum collectively build "The World's Fastest ...X..." , for VW Action 2020 ..... wheelly bin (Reg has a headstart in the R&D here), tool box (see S49/Si for blueprints), stool box (applications by pm to me), Miniatures (Fruitbat/Kev has a desire for shortening his van), trike (see 3 wheels on all his wagons Greeny), anymore .... if it's a short run Tommo could build something perhaps!
