Starting a thread so I can see how much I change / ruin over time. Few pics showing exactly how I had it.

I’m really happy with it and it’s a great base few. Few little niggles and things to do but no rush for any of it.

It’s had a engine transplant, 2.5tdi to a 2.5tdi and also it’s not a vw box, not sure what it is but it doesn’t like going into reverse, it requires a bit of gentle persuasion.

It’s got a 240v plug in, Ive had it tested and the one 3point plug works fine, the other had a loose earth. I need to strip that out and see what’s going on, I’m useless with electrics though.
I also want to put a leisure battery in and fit some spotlights and new headlining, that’s probably the first job so expect an how do I do this thread soon.

Front Fog lights don’t work, 12v sockets don’t work. So it needs some electrical testing. I’ve checked the fuses.

My little lad named it bubblegum so I guess that’s it’s name now going forward.

    All Input and suggestions welcome

Very very nice Morgs. More function than fuss, I like its clean lines and the blue is great, fondly reminds me of a Mk1 Escort a mate had when we were learning to drive.

        Thanks both.

Funnily enough it reminds me of an old ford blue too.

When i strip the panels to see what’s going on with the wiring I think I’ll carpet the butsvof metal on the inside too around the roof line

Love that and a full width bed is probably gonna be my next step or turn the 3/4 round and have a view out the back and Little seats facing forward 🤙🏽

Yeah I worded it wrong I think, it’s just Had a change and not upgraded I meant.

It’s just a removable cupboard with a little two ring thing on it. Handy as a cupboard at the mo, probably end up taking it out but don’t wany to block the door off permanently, not yet anyway.

You don’t like lwb then fruitbat?

I own a lwb and have never jelled with it , I prefer the side profile of a swb.

I wanted a lwb, I thought if I’m having a van I may aslwell get one with a bit more space.

I prefer the look of them too tbh, look better when low but I’m loving the high everyday easiness of mine at the mo.

I’ll have a look at your thread now, nice one

Nice that, Morgs. Looks like a good conversion to start with, just add your own personality to.

Ah man this interior building is a right head fuck.
I decided to trace the wiring in the van that I think stevie wonder did which ended up in taking the headlining down. It was all drooping anyway so I wanted to change it.
Taped it al back up yesterday, came back home from work today and the interior heat just melted al the tape and it all fell again.

My initial plan was to replace the headlining with a 3-5mm ply using the existing holes and screw clip things, however, I measured what I’d need 2.6m x 1.4m. B&Q only do 2.4m x 1.2m, typical.
New plan is to buy the 1.2m width and instead of using the exisisting holes I’d have to tiger seal batton to the roof and then screw the ply to that. Bit hesitant on doing that as I’m gonna lose an inch of head room though, and every inch counts

Then the electrics!!! What a mind fuck! I’m going to rip all the existing 240v hook up out as I don’t need a shower and the plug sockets are not where I’d want them anyway. I’m on the case of sorting a leisure battery out, bit research needed as to what will fit under driver seat, jo where really I can put it in the back with the sliding seat and two sliding doors. Engine bay also looks really tight on room and have no idea how people have managed to squeeze another one in there.

The front end electrics are a mess too, Stevie also had a go of wiring the CD player in, it all needs to come out and done again but it scares me, the 12v socket don’t work but it’s seems to be splice into existing loom so don’t know what’s going on there, checked the end fuse and that’s all good.

Had a stressful day in there yesterday. Still love it though Click image for larger version
