It’s officially 2 years since AJ came into my possession,so thought it’s about time I put a build thread together. After numerous blow outs with viewings and actually 1 van I was on my way to look to look at when the seller phoned me to say someone pressed the buy it now.Was getting a bit miffed. Then spotted him on eBay £750 starting bid, advertised with a clutch problem.based near Salisbury.I couldn’t go and view so done the cardinal sin of bidding blind.£1250 winning bid we was on our way with a suspicion through the inter web I knew what the clutch problem was.picked him up and 100 mile return trip to home without fault I could feel the love already.Especially when a pedal box bracket solved the clutch problem 50mm lowering springs and some £100 eBay Audi alloysNow it was a rush to get it ready for our first expedition.A cheap blue seat £40 off eBay.Some more expensive middle seat belts.Welded 4mm thick 100mm square plate steel top and fitted with hi tensile bolts spreader washers and the same plates underneath.then photo evidence sent to the DVLA thinking they’d ask for a visa inspection. My new log book turned up.6 seats and all legalNow the windows and a deep breath. Then insulation, sound deadening and plain ply lining panelsA bit of old carpet in the back and we were off on our fist trip to the coastHe drove faultless for over 600 miles that week and we haven’t looked back since. So,recent picks of my van shows it’s changed a bit in the last year so I will be posting van version 2.0 soon.

Ok,so that was.summer 2017...Now for version 2.0....first was the interior carpet lined all the bare metal in smoke 4way again kit from eBay.But I wanted a contrast so opted to do the ply panels and roof panels in faux suede colour silver, but luckily looks grey.Cheap oak laminate flooring from Homebase went in.Then I wasn’t to keen on the plastic side steps available so sprayed the step with bed liner and with the spare metal from my window cut outs, sort of fabricated,i’ll use that word loosely a trim panel from step to flooring.atound this time I found a grey caravelle seat in grey toto cloth which was a better match for the Inca captains up frontI had lowered AJ a lot more at this point, but the front mount mod and pancaked bumpstop were still not giving the comfy ride as i’d gone beyond that and it was proper banging which is how I found this forum.I was interested in the sausage mounts so pm’d him and after Shane giving an explanation of his mounts I went for a set.I know i’ve gone on about them before, but they are genius and transformed the ride. It’s gotta be the best modification I’ve spent money on.It’s at this time last year I introduced myself on his lowering thread saying how great they were.So next on the list was a steering wheel to replace my 250k mike worn out one.Got a nice 2007 polo leather wheel off eBay.an adapter and on it went.A van x centre console gear stick extension and eventually found some toto pattern single front seats,so a drive to Gatwick to pick them up.stripped both my captains seats and put the better seat sponge and toto covers on from the two seats I purchased and so chuffed I now had matching front rear seats.Although I am still searching for the plain grey armrests, have one but the rest are still Inca patternalso upgraded to electric windows from travellinlite.Great kit and easy to fit and the buttons light up red to match the dashboards blue/redStereo was next with a pioneer head unit vibe slick 4 inch components up front as the tweeters fit in the holes where the window winders used to be and mounted some infinity 6x9s under the rear seats.Would like to re do this and make it removable must clean that mark off the rear seat..and finally installed a couple of usb chargers in the back panels. and that everybody is as far as I’ve got..It’s in the ball park of how in wanted it,but a lot still to die.I have along list of things I want, but alas, not deep enough pockets to do it.But,it’s taken 2years to this point and am in no real hurry, just enjoying it,using it and fixing it,which in my own masochistic way i’m enjoying that too.

I just wiped clean the back panels.as the front headliner has a layer of foam I made sure there was a good layer of glue on both cloth and surface and made sure there’s plenty of overlap to start with..harder to get wrinkle free with the foam on.Trim fix contact adhesive i’ve found to be the best i’ve used. Not sure how to post a link active but here’s the item no.

Got a twin usb/blanking plate fitting from www.coolcamperhire.com.comes with wiring and inline fuse for £11.99.Thought that was good value seeing as a blanking plate is £8.95 off eBay.Wired it in using an ignition live source, same as my rear usb’s as I haven’t got a split charge system, tested it on my boys busted screen I phone as I didn’t want to blow up my phone and happy days.Comes on/off with ignition and looks neat and tidy in the dash.Another little job done for a bit more practicality inside.
