  • 1998 t4 2.5tdi camper build

    Hi guys,

Just started building another t4 camper, had a couple of t4’s about 8 years ago and sold them to pay for the house deposit. One I got settled I bought a early bay. Well that’s gone and I’ve bought another t4.

On a whim found this on eBay in Wrexham, had a drive over and bought it.

Well on the way back it’s given me a few issues, namely it threw the auxiliary drive belt tensioner off so I’ve had it at a local garage having the tensioner done, service and MOT. Safe to say a few quid invested and it’s now got a full mot test and major service.

Here goes the boring bit guys as I’ve stripped the rear out and done sound deadening, lining carpet, insulated and new floor.

Thanks for the kind reply’s guys, gotta admit I think I might have bought a pup !!!! So I used it for the first time yesterday and found the that the brakes we sticking on, strange as this didn’t seem like an issue on the 100 mile run home after I bought it , And the accelerator went dead on me a couple of times. Blooming thing is fighting me all the way. L

The Good thing about these beasties is the sheer number of them sold means there’s plenty of second hand parts around so repairs are still possible on the cheap

The boots on the sliders on the calipers tend to split and they corrode. Cheap enough and easy to fix.

So I thought whilst I’m waiting on my servo to come (eBay bargain at £60 !!! Hope it fits) I thought I would tackle some of the rust bubbles on the sills and arches. Didn’t think they were too bad when I first looked as it seemed okay even when prodded with a screw driver , how wrong could I be ?!?!?

I swear this thing is fighting me every step of the way.

Keep going mate, it'll be worth it in the end.

Sell my T4 !!! I'd rather stick wasps up my butt.
