  • One day ill have a camper

As usual when you think you had a good buy and a quick bit of diy will have you out in the wilds camping isn't quite true [emoji23] So far after removing builders wood floors had to patch quite a lot. Then replace one of the rear trail arm mounts that had rotted! Absolute nightmare. Rebuilt the backend with polybush trail arms, new eibach springs, gas shocks, brake guards and calper rebuild. Started the front sills in hope it would just be but if a skim with filler and tidy up. Nope rotten as a pear! Will keep updating. Click image for larger version

Have you tried turning the gas on when welding?

Not a migmate by any chance is it?

Well done for trying to save it though.

Cheers Dave T becoming a labour of love. Haha regcheeseman the first lot was gasless mig I've had years but when I had to weld the chassis trail arm mount there was no way I'd trust gasless. I wanted decent penetration. The welding before any coments haha. The last plate under front arch was also on the gas which does give loads better weld.

So in between looking after the mrs as she had shoulder op yesterday I'm making some headway. Having to fabricate the inner arch and taking door off tomorrow as off work.
Will cut old arch off then do inner arch repairs then look to weld sill and arch. Click image for larger version

I am trying to take a crash course as I fear T4s and welding come hand in hand

Productive 1st day of my break all areas treated and repaired prior to fitting the new panels. Shocked at the amount of crap behind the wing. I'll be doing a similar bodge to others and fit some form of hose from the window screen drain hole. Need to prep all new panels ready for spraying. Will attempt other side over next few days. More repairs first on front chassis outrigger to bumper mount. Click image for larger version

Good work bud. I had a sycamore tree growing in my inner arch garden, looks like your weren't too far away from that.

Why is that plod splodged in there - it shouldn't be.

That panel gap on the arch repair is awful - it'll always draw your eye. Or was it just a really poor replica panel?

Get some bilt hamber electrox or some epoxy primer on the repaired areas bud, you don't want the rot getting back in.

oh and don't take this as negative - it's just my way of constructive criticism. Sure, you can come on forums and people can blow smoke up your arse and tell you how great you are doing (if you want that, try the other T4 forum)
