          You assumed I was going to use the pd gearbox? I shall have mine rebuilt with my gearbox guy who knows these gearboxes well, I'll go for the longer 5th at the same time

              I got a bora 130pd and the torque is awesome but not sure what it would do to t4 drive shafts and box. But if it bolts straight up and work I can see that being the new donnor engine

                      A mate of mine will be getting rid of a fairly low mileage 2.4 engine/ gear box if anyone’s interested, can be seen running at the mo. He is swapping in for a mk3 vr6 on a manual box.

                          ASZ...the 2.4 has done 220k...i block tested it (tested for exhaust gases in the coolant) before I bought it and it's fine...drives ok

                                I've just checked the message to my gearbox rebuilder and I thought I had asked if the box was good for 300lb/ft...turns out I asked if it would take 240lb/ft as this can be maintained as a flat line from 2400-4000rpm...at 4000rpm, 240lb/ft gives you 180bhp.

                                Why 240lb/ft? Well this is what a 2.5tdi makes at a stage1 at 2500rpm but it peaks there and drops off quite quickly down to 170lb/ft at 4000rpm

                                EDIT: he's replied and said that with a pinion brace (braces the input shaft bearing, bell housing side...this stops it making its way towards the clutch as the casing can break here at high torque applications) the gearbox should be fine as it is basically an 02a/j with a bigger diff
