  • I too am an engineer (aircraft tech) and although I can't afford your lights (I'm super tight and I cringe at buying upgraded bulbs from Halfords) I absolutely love this whole story. It's great to see someone putting so much effort into something that will benefit so many. You're a superstar Mr. Turk!

      Thanks mate

Still trying my utmost at a sub £500 for the basic version, so we'll see ......... being as I'm still in the development stage, prototyping, testing various materials and the amount of materials required, there's no way of telling how much the headlights will sell for. One thing I am sure of though, they will be a fair price ....... I'm not doing this for pure profit, as I'm not motivated by money or greed.

Leaving my mark on the T4 enthusiast world and being recognised as a supplier of a top quality product, is far more important to me

I would need to know the type of van you have ( short or long nose ), and the manufacture year if at all possible Jay.

Many thanks for your interest in the project, and hopefully it won't be too long a wait.

Just to add to that guys and gals ........ When the final price will be announced, all forum members will get a discounted price from the intended selling price. So we can all thank Dan and his team for allowing me to share this project on their site.

      Cheers Dan.

      • Seconded. Thanks Dan. It's a great site and I know you have had frustrations with it lately.

Will we need to upgrade the wiring to these?

          top work sir

          Thanks Arthur,

That's not even half the story Arthur ........ over 2 years research in the legalities of headlight design, and learning the complexities of the materials, because to fabricate a decent product you first have to select good quality materials. The entire procedure you see above and on the previous pages, were purely to produce one headlight part ! So there's loads more to come yet mate.

And yes, I also look at headlights in a total different light now !

A 'Superstar' ! ....... well, thank you Timmy, very much appreciated mate

As an engineer, and in the aircraft industry, you more than most would understand the complexities in design, the solution to the problem ........ issues have to be resolved, it always comes down to the minutest detail and most times it's a mere millimetre that makes the difference. But that's why engineers and designers exist ........ they've created the world around us.

It's my determination to succeed that'll make this project a reality, I've never been a quitter and always enjoy a challenge ( that's why I became an engineer really ), but at the end of the day you just can't beat the sense of achievement when it all goes right.

            Indeed, Arfur ........ totally great job ( now where's that thumbs-up emo !? )

No need to upgrade your wiring loom Arfur, as the quad headlight system comes with one. I've had to design a special one as it's totally different than the OE setup.
All four headlight units ON at the same time in high beam !

Or, you could always pop by to central France and see me, it'll be a nice drive and it'll get you out the house for a few days !

I am really hoping that the first 3-4 people on the list will not even be buying a set.
They seem to have dropped of the (original) forum! ..... Fingers crossed I can then have the second pair!

                    • I've suspected for a while now that yours will be the very first set to go out Jim

Russ Dylan sold his bus last year if I remember rightly, I can't get any info on Lord Farquad ......... and I've not heard from Camperwagen or JB Fab in over three years !!!
Mind you, having said that, members do change their user names ...... maybe they're surfing the other forum under new identities !?

What some people probably don't realise is, for the fist two years of the project I was only working on the project at weekends as I was in full time employment. Then the sale of my house and my move to France ........ lost almost a year there just faffing around. It's really just in the last year and a half that the project has come together.

Lets hope we're all still alive to enjoy the headlights when they're finally completed !

Or, if I happen to keel-over maybe somebody could take over the R & D !

Few days of monsoon type rains, then that really thin stuff constantly for a few days ........ now 70 mph winds ........ I hate winter

                            • Loads of work involved in testing a product Jay ........ would you have the facilities and the necessary tools to correct any issues ? would you know what to look for ?
Or would your testing simply be cruising around at night in your van !?

Thanks for the offer though mate but I think it's best if I test the prototypes myself .......... afterall, if I balls'ed it up, it should be up to me to fix the problem !

                              • this is very true but there is normaly a small production run to test for a period of time for faults (my job test inspection for 21 years )id gladly pay full price for the lights and I am talking about last production line so it would be mainly durability and weather testing rather than mods.iv got to try lol
