  • Bearing Tip

If your having trouble pressing a bearing out of the carrier, try this it never fails. Knock the centre race out(it might have already come out when you knocked the hub/flange off) then run a nice bead of mig round the bearing track. It will tap out then nicely with a chisel or big screwdriver. If you do the same to both races it will push out but remember its hot. Click image for larger version

Don't say that, someone will do it. It all started when I couldn't get one out of a late escort. Local Ford lot said they sold lots of hub carriers for the same reason. An old tractor guy that comes round for a chat. Said i'll get it out boy."Wheres ya mig?" I tend to go straight to it that way now as are crap(Sealy) press is on its third ram.
