Take it back and whine louder than the box Tommy and you'll get another one free.
You don't ask and you won't get , plus these lads were just about to start out as gearbox specialists, clearly their boxes are very special!

Maybe one day they could do it with electrikery (when that is invented) but that's just the dreams of a madman...
No i don’t think it’s that, the turbo is big enough not to spool low down, I bet it makes 8psi max at 2k and 22psi at 2500rpm. 8psi is pretty strong still though to be fair and probably equal to the GT2052v at 12-14psi. It flows magnificently. It looks like your turbo Reg, but bigger.

No that was the blokes dad that rebuilds boxes. These lads are thinking about the adaptor for the 02m’s. They have done their own.

Got a few options and thankfully a few scrap gearboxes in the stores to make a good one as a short term until I rip out the shitty 02b for good and drop in an 02g.

It would be the best thing but I haven’t got an 02g to put in. A mate of mine is swapping his 02g for another code with taller gears and i can have that off him, he’s just not swapped them yet and I need it on the road. I’d have been fine if it would have held out for a couple more months but it was not meant to be lol

              • Scratch that, I’m going 02G now.

                • Anyone have any experience with converting from an 02b to an 02g?

                  I know I’ll need:

shaft extension and mount to block
                  gearbox mount
                  Clutch slave pipe

How about the bottom steady? Will the standard one fit?

I’ll probably not bother with the cable operated reverse release thing and instead use something inside the shifter to then push the lever down to get into 5th rather than have to find extra bits. So I’ll be the same setup as the 02b if that makes sense.

You need the ally mount to block rather than the cast one

                    Lower mount should fit

I'm hoping the clutch pipe will fit as well.

You have the mount to chassis?

Shaft extension is available from Brickwerks, as it the clutch pipe.

I'm not going for reverse cable either - or I'll make one up

I've swapped the clevis and mount (A shaped bracket that the shifter ball locates into) from the B to the G

A mate told me the clutch pipe is different but with the right kit it’s easy to make up.

The standard mount works so I’m told. He’s used it before.

Ah so the clevis spline thing works? Good to know, I thought the 02g’s spline looked bigger but I haven’t compared or measured so that takes that out the equation.

How about the bracket on the bellhousing for the shift rod? Will that work?

                      • The gearbox has miraculously starting working fine again with all gears!!! Must be an issue with the fluid so I’ll drop that out and change it tomorrow

                          • If you brim the gearbox with oil (as opposed to following the VAG guides) might that as it expands with the heat become solid with the pressure created?
Any seals weeping / leaking TP?

                            • Why would you "brim" it? Surly you'd just fill it till it came out the level/filler plug.
