Vanes shouldn't gum that quick even if you are rolling coal.
You could just lock them open....
I’ve done about 3500 miles now. I could just lock them open but I just don’t want to for a few reasons. I’m not giving up on the vgt as i genuinely believe I just need to clean up the fueling. Also I don’t want the lag back so either going back to wastegate or locking the vanes is a last resort. I’m absolutely not there yet. Nowhere near.

Doubt you'll get lag, Besides, you want to be careful with a lot of boost and torque low down or you may just find out how bulletproof the 2.4 really is
I love engine running videos recorded on phones, they are always useless. I get quite a lot recorded under bonnet sent to me by people who want me to diagnose their faults - you never have a hope as the sound is also distorted.
Hopefully we'll all make a meet next year before corona III (the revenge) kicks in and I'll get to hear it for real. And I'll be driving my tailgated, six speed, 300 brake monster or the V10 RWD doka.

I got lag with the K14 on my 2.4 but then again, it’s a slightly different donkey being IDI with crap standard size injectors and a std pump. Not that the pump would cause lag but the other setup maybe.
If I switch to a wastegated turbo you won’t hear it like it is now, it’s the vanes opening right up and letting the sound thunder down the exhaust. The tone changes massively when the vanes open as if you’ve deleted a silencer moments after you stand on the gas. Also, it doesn’t really drone ever, which we thought it would. It’s pretty quiet cruising along the motorway or wherever. Just loud when you stand on the gas. Which was kinda the aim and to be expected from a 4ft 2.5” exhaust system lol.
The video is still better than my fanciful descriptions of it haha.
Interestingly, Garretts boost adviser recommended either a GT2252 or a GTX2860R when I checked last night. Then again, it also said i could expect 207lbsft with one aiming for 200bhp. Lol - I bet I had about that with the 2.4.
300 brake you say........What turbos are you considering?
I love how it drives (when it’s warmed up and the vanes aren’t blocked solid) yeah it boosts low but it fuels it even if it is too much fuel/smoke and it also roars off and doesn’t behave or sound wrong, just powerful as hell. I’ve got the actuator spring set at about 12-14 psi max. When I bury my foot it will jump to 15psi for a split second and then drop to 12 and raise to 14 as the revs pick up higher. The response is insane, it’s massively surpassed my expectations and I couldn’t actually be happier. Just these very minor details to iron out. So glad I was stupid enough to piss around doing this.

Haha! I doubt I’d even be eligible for a credit card by then. I had a wild youth. Even so, as long as I get the login details for myself and whatever will be out there to be into then I’m not fussed. I’d imagine the meds will possibly be the sort that would help them with their endeavours on these sites lol.
