So over a spot of lunch I starting looking at the rear braking options.
I'm trying to keep this braking upgrade simple so it actually happens and gets fitted to the van and then I can benefit from all the effort!
This looks easier than I thought and following my "stay with a T4 upgrade" I found out that the Petrol V6 rears use the same calliper as my '01 AJT.
My rear disks are 280 x 12 and can be improved to 294 x 13.5 (7D0 615 601C) by simply changing the calliper carriers to 7D0 615 425A.
Well 14mm (10.2% area increase) must of been acceptable to the VW R&D guys when they were working out the stopping power of a 204KW V6!
There are various third party new options for £25'ish delivered per carrier but I've seen both caliper and carriers for similar money.
Quick update on the rear brake upgrade 280 to 294mm . TRW sell the caliper carrier part number BDA463 for £21.93 each delivered, which I found on Amazon as the best price. I figured my original calipers are pretty new (2 years old) & work fine and are fairly clean for painting so just changing the carrier will save some time. Next is track down some disks, pads and some new front cover plates & new 300mm rear cover plates 7D1 615 611 or 350mm rears 7D0 615 611B.

Front Brake Cover Plates - described as 310/110 and fits ALL engines and brake disc sizes.
I cannot personally confirm this but will update this as I need it to fit 313mm discs!
I've posted the info I collated on the fronts below because of the HUGE pricing discrepancies when you start searching.
My rear splash guards I paid £4.11 each and I've paid £7.74 each for the left and right fronts from German brand Van Wezel.
I've never purchased these new before so quality , materials and finish could be very different across the brands.

I've tried to collate all the x-ref part numbers but its far from exhaustive. Best deals were in Germany by far and reflected pricing relative to a pressed shape in zinc plated tin in my opinion.

Ive been looking at new tyres and playing with increasing the sidewall and comfort!
OEM : 205/65 x 15 = 133mm sidewall, standard OEM tyre size. 2034mm circumference / 791 revs per mile.
A8 : 235/35 x 19 = 82mm sidewall, When speedometer reads 60 km/h actual speed will be 60 km/h / 2033mm / 792 revs per mile.
The below sizes stay within 5% of the original circumference. Its a ball ache working through the options so I posted what I'd done to date.
Check your rim width to make sure you're happy they fit and shaped to your liking!
205/45 x 18 = 92mm sidewall, When speedometer reads 60 km/h actual speed will be 59.5 km/h. 798 revs per mile.
205/50 x 18 = 103mm sidewall, When speedometer reads 60 km/h actual speed will be 61.4 km/h. 774 revs per mile.
215/45 x 18 = 97mm sidewall, When speedometer reads 60 km/h actual speed will be 60.3 km/h. 787 revs per mile.
215/50 x 18 = 108mm sidewall, When speedometer reads 60 km/h actual speed will be 62.3 km/h. 762 revs per mile.
225/45 x 18 = 101mm sidewall, When speedometer reads 60 km/h actual speed will be 61.1 km/h. 777 revs per mile.

And a Samco 80mm 45deg hose. Using 80mm on the turbo inlet currently. Bargain.

Something else I noticed in the shop was a set of opened VW Touareg Stainless/Brass Brakelines for £19 made by a German outfit call Fischer Hydraulik looked like the 2 banjos had been nicked/borrowed as the copper washers were still visible. So f'it I'll make it work & coughed up. Now I'm back looks like the Toerag uses the same M10x1 fittings but the hoses are slightly longer (30mm front, rears are long so might have to improvise and loose some hard pipework!). Quick email to customer services at FH to check the banjo & specs and I should have my TUV tested hoses (albeit not red) for the van sorted for £26 & an email.
