I've had this issue with our 1.9td. Started after the orginal switch sprang a leak. replaced with a factors switch then bleep bleep bleep. Fitted a Meyle one then no problem till we went through some flood water in late 2019 and then it was bleep bleep bleep. Renewed again as above and fine ever since.Always worth checking the oil pressure at the first sign of a problem but when that checks out ok a good make of switch will put you right.

Thats more than likely the gear or the pick up on the box.

I’ve read similar issues before that turned out to be the blue wire from the alternator. It gives an engine speed signal as the oil warning light is linked and probably the most sophisticated system on a non tdi. Might be something to it, I’d do a continuity test on the wire the the clocks.

Sounds like a cluster issue then, the blue wire is as far as i know for sending a tacho signal to the cluster rev counter and puts the battery light out.

The sender on the diff housing by the right hand driveshaft.

Brought a new battery and the speedo is working fine now
I've tested the voltage from battery 12.5 with ignition off started it now saying 11.3 can't find problem so going to have to take it to the garage tomorrow

You should have battery voltage at rest but with engine running your volt metre across the battery should be showing 13.5 to 14 volts if the alternator is charging.
