Old hand at mechanics, new to T4s... How much to pay?

Hullo all,

I have been browsing the forum now for a few weeks in anticipation of getting my first T4 from a family friend.

It has been used as a decorators van for the last 20 years and is now on a shade under 200k with only a few weeks left on the mot. It is a 1996 model with the 2.4 engine.

Can you give me an idea of a fair price to offer as I don't want to overpay but also don't want to be seen to be ripping the owner off!

I'm looking forward to getting stuck in soon!

Hello and welcome. All down to condition and what the owner is expecting. Not much help I know. One lad on hear got one for 250. Ours was a S reg builders/work van with 126000 on the clock and we gave 2000 for it. Got it down from 2800 mind. If you know him have a chat, sure you can find a price that suits you both. If he'll take 250 i'll give you 300 for it

Hello and welcome.
There's a load that's dependant. Rust (as with any older vehicle) is a fairly large thing. If all is ok in that front and the engine is good I would see about what the mot flags up. If it's ok I see no issue with £2000/£3000.
