The only flange I found was from darkside, 4 bolt.

If you could get prices that will be cool.

Your are welcome to fiddle around with my box, but it's different to yours, yours will have the pendulum mount. Is yours the 88 or the 102? the 102 is different again although you probably know all this already

Not sure why but the collar for a CV boot has been tack welded in place on the CV

Strange why that's been done but looks like it hasn't done any harm

No harm apart from the CV joint isn't sealed, there's a gap all round - grease can escape and water and grit get in instead - the CV joint is ruined.

Thanks for the offer Reg but I've now discovered on the net that they are called 'Chassis outriggers' ( T4's R Us sell them ) ........ I can't find any info on the long nose though !?
My question to you would of been, are the 'outriggers' simply bolted on or welded in place ? >>

I only bought my MultiVan from Germany last year, as you can clearly see she's in need of a little tlc, that lower cross member is completely shot

Sorry to have deviated from your brilliant thread mate. So, if anybody has done this job on their long nose Caravelle or MultiVan, any info would be appreciated.

                      Thanks

Ive recently had both outriggers replaced and they were welded. Mine is a 92 short nose though so don't know if yours would be different

                          Thanks Burgmeister.

I doubt that the existing chassis on the long nose and the short nose would be very different ....... if at all ! But that information is proving very difficult to find. I've spent days on the Internet trying to find a diagram of the T4' chassis but have not found a decent one yet. Also, in 1996 when VW introduced the long nose, did they also elongate the chassis front end to accommodate the VR6 engine ?

Thanks for the information mate, I have to assume that mine will be the same then ....... in which case, I'm in a spot of bother, as I don't weld

And being in a small village in central France I doubt that anybody round these parts could do the job for me.

They are indeed welded, as they are on my 2002 short nose. VW introduced the long nose solely for the VR6 didn't they? It had the dubious bonus of making service work a pig, like they were gearing up for the T5 when it would become a complete misery.

Oh - get yourself a welder and learn how to use it.

                            Back to the thread.....

The problem with working out of a small double garage that is already chock full with workbenches, tools, lathe, compressor, motorbikes, a conservatory roof, etc, etc - is that when you set about dismantling a vehicle to this extent you rapidly run out of usable workspace.

If only I had an outbuilding or an old shed to put all the crap in...

Don't worry mr sausages - I've been far more careful than first impressions might suggest.
