Specialist police vehicles cover very little mileage and this can make them a good buy. However I would not have a regular plod vehicle given to me! And as for the "carriers" or "riot vans" I would have one but I would have to have it sanitised and treated for infections

These are the vehicles thet the fleet manager has a little ownership of and as such they get looked after.
There is a saying around the policing family regarding the vehicles "1 careful owner 100 idiot drivers" the service intervals are often not met as there are often not enough on the street to have them gone. Meaning that when they do go they are gone for a long time as there is usually somthing massive wrong with them.
We should have somthing like the Americans have the crown vic which was designed to be a police car. We have a cheep compromise

Yea they all do. You have got one of the vehicles that are a good buy. The peugeots we have now and the Hyundais we also have are near dead when they go. We have a peugeot that's 6 months old and is grounded on speed humps daily bounced over curbs and speed humps on the daily loaded with all sorts of kit. But the worst thing that happens to a panda particularly is the dirty Neanderthal child with adhd that is sat in it. The most of them has a desire to degrade a police car in any way possible. I tend to clean the cars or carriers I use and the stuff i have found scares me!
