  • Project T4

Here is the start of my project, at the moment she is just "project T4" as I haven't found a suitable name yet.
I brought the van three weeks ago, it's a 96 1.9td swb 800 special. Drivers wing was damaged, passenger door, sliding door and passenger sill damaged.

First job as I saw it was to strip off the bumpers, grill, wing (found some rust)
    and wing mirrors.

I then located a new door and sliding door (with free window) and took them to the garage I've brought the van. We agreed on the sale that they would repair the bits I needed for cost. I took the bumpers and grill home to refurbish and discover with a heat gun. The grill panel was cleaned up and Matt blacked, the mirrors also.

I went back a few days later to remove the passenger door (on request so they could start the sill repair) I also removed the plastic step covers and uncovered rust (great) that was hidden by underseal on the passenger side and a heat shield on the drivers side.

I removed the sliding door step cover also as I was concerned about rust but it's solid.
I should have picked it up at the weekend just gone but got a call on Thursday to say that due to the extra repairs it wouldn't be able to go to paint that week.
My plans are to change out the scabby seat (with freebies supplied) service it, remove the inlet manifold and clean out, fit egr blank, gear linkage mod, fix the oil leak (I think from either rocker gasket of oil Filler neck gasket) fit the rear lowering springs, lower front, fit hub adapters and new wheels, have the side and rear windows tinted (properly) then start on refurbishing the dashboard, stereo install, Insulate and line the rear of the van then make plans for storage, rnr and possibly new side window if budget allows.

I work nights so get the day to myself pretty much. Should be able to knock most of it out quite quickly.

Van is in to paint today. Pain in the arse as I'm on early shifts this week and pick my son up from school. Hopefully he'll be up for a few hours down at the garage. While I refit the door and windows so I can bring it home.
