It was a full bulkhead model with a bowed out side door that had suffered from a cement mixer being carried that had tried to escape.
The bulkhead was slowly removed, first the glass came out, then the top section and eventually the lower section.
First mod was wheels, I went to gupa P in plymouth and the only rated fitment they could supply were TSW godknowswhat in a 15" fitment - four new wheels and tyres were around Ā£400
Then the door got replaced with one shipped over from Magheera? van sales in Ireland.
Whilst getting the door done, Barry Cornish (windscreen express at that time) had a unit next door to the bodyshop and he could cut glass to fit the sides - fixed glass Ā£40 each side fitted!
The inside got converted on a very diy basis - there were still no forums for info
carpet trimming was my old felt rubber backed house carpet with the rubber backing pressure washed off, sink and cooker from a wrecked caravan, front swivel seat base made from an old office chair, folding bed built from scratch that fixed to the sides of the van and had no legs - you could remove it in five minutes and get two motorbikes in for when I went racing.
Sounds augmented by a 15" bass speaker fitted in the twin seat base.

Iāve got no idea where all my pics of my first van went. Thought I had a build thread on the other forum but fāed if I can find it.
Anyway, it went through a couple of iterations - one as transporter of surf equipment, then ripped all that out and fitted an RnR bed when I had too many bums for seats. Then swapped it out for a bigger one (the one I have now).

The T4 was starting to get a following online, Vanagon.com had a single part of it's forum devoted to the eurovan.
I found out I could fit merc wheels, bought some 17s, borrowed a 14mm drill bit from work and drilled them out to suit the VW wheel bolts.
It also served as my wedding car
I didn't get the arches resprayed in time.
It also seems that lowering wasn't a thing yet either.
At some time the seats were replaced with ones from the 90's asian taxi driver's favourite - either a bluebird or a sunny.
Finally it was time to sell as it wasn't being used enough, but I re-trimmed it first. Loosing the horrible red draylon and strangely replacing it with some charcoal denim
