Intorducing.... The Fag Bus

Can’t believe it’s been nearly four weeks since I updated this, sadly my health issues reared its head again and I’ve only been back on my feet a week.
It’s been very slow and frustrating going with the Fag but I've had some nice distractions this week to keep the motivation up,
Back with the Fag and the major hurdle of the alternator is over which was holding up the engine.
Without backtracking too much the issue was with using the early 2.4 AAB engine, the alternator from the 2.4 doesn’t have the necessary connections to run the tach so I decided even though it was going to cause some headaches I had to run the original 1.9TD alternator.
So this was the obvious problem,
And rightly or wrongly (I’m still not 100% sure on the design) here’s my solution,
Starting with cardboard templates,
Then transferred to steel,
Sods law I had to run out of gas while attempting to weld it up, managed to get it tacked up to test fit it (welding is all done at home while the van is down in the unit)
Had to do some adjustments then welded it all up, painted (which ran because I was rushing) and fitted.
With the alternator on there was a snag list to work through, wiring all completed and secured, pas pipes all re-fitting (although the pipe to the rack was murder!), cv joints re-fitted and radiator/water pipes and front panel all buttoned up.
Its slowly starting to look like a van again although its still kicking me all the way though as while I'm starting to put fluids and bleed everything up the radiator decides to split its dummy out and starts leaking
I've a couple of jobs left to do but the main things are to bleed the clutch and tighten the cv bolts before hopefully a test drive next week.
I'd like to put the mechanical stuff behind me and crack on with the interior, while all the time figuring out what to do with the body. Although put it this way my mates just got me five litres of military camo green... The rest as they say is history!
