  • '96 lwb, Alpina wheels, day/campervan+ PD130 conversion

    Hi Guys,

Bought this as a bit of a project from a gardener who had the vehicle for the last 14 years, only 3 previous owners. Currently a 2.4d but have a PD130 from a fabia vrs to go in (will be mapped to 180bhp and 300lb/ft).

First things first, wheels and lowering...i had some Alpina C88's from my old E36, these are 8+9" 17" ET46 so adapter friendly. As you'll see, they sit pretty much flush with the arches. Might be the first set on a T4???

I ran out of time today so the ride height needs a little tweak...The bodywork needs some loving but for the price I payed, I'm well happy

What drop have you used on the rear springs?

I’d kill for access to garage space like that by the way!!!

Using ta technics "coilovers" for the moment...they are set to minimum...i think I'll remove the upper pad and adjuster to see how that sits

The front needs the bump stops reducing in size and lowering a little more

Great looking wheel - lets see them!

Sorta a team van esque - I know of some undrilled turbines that I'm tempted by.

edit: weird...when I first viewed this post I only got one picture, the last one, showing the back of the van.

That's lowered on coilovers set to minimum? Is it the effect of the lo profile tyres cos there looks like a lot of arch showing

(yeah yeah sausages, I know I'm not one to talk)

Yep, the upper spring pad is still in on the rear and the coil needs to settle down yet I think. There's no real weight in the back yet

It was a steal to be honest...it was on eBay, I messaged the owner to go and view it and he didn't reply...a week later and he'd dropped the price by £150 (which payed for the adapters and wiper blades lol)

I was the only person to actually go and view the van, he'd had a load of "I'll pay by PayPal and get my mate to pick it up" scam attempts on gumtree but that was it.

I'd love to have my own workshop to tinker...but it is a pipe dream/lottery win away

With these rear springs it would be a good idea to remove pads, the complete adjuster assembly and trim down the bump stop tube. On the front, even with trimmed bump stops and top mount it'll bang like buggery on anything that looks like low.

Damn. This thread had so much promise of a decent van.

                            Bloody kids.
