  • And now a water leak... :-(

Yesterday I noticed water dripping from the left side of the bus looking straight on the front.

Had a scout around and found water dripping from a cover over a tube(?) I am suspecting that this is the water pump area as it's where all the belts are :-(

Am I looking at a new water pump?

The cam belt and water pump were changed less than a year ago so I am going to be pretty pee'd off to have to change everything again :-(

Or maybe it could just be a pipe/tube? Please!!!! ;-)

If you have a cover over where the coolant pipes connect to the pump it might just be one of those. Not sure what engine you have but they’re the only two pipes in that area on mine

        Thanks for the replies....

        It's a 2.4D 1997 engine.

Will see if I can get a photo now.

Could be the dreaded water flange. A plastic pipe bolted on behind the water pump. If its like the 1.9 ABL can be done without taking off water pump and belts. Not expensive on fleabay. Post a picture and we'll help spot leak.

Not sure if this photo is enough?

The water is dripping from the rubber sleeve that can be seen around the pipe.

Think that's the power steering pipe from the power steering pump. So suspect its dripping either from you water pump under the cambelt over or the coolant flange a little further back.

Flange is a known drip spot.

Just had a very similar thing on my 2.5
I had convinced myself it was the pump, even booked it in for a pump & belts. Then I did a little more investigation and found it to be the O-ring seal under the thermostat housing (which is probably what is being referred to as the plastic flange).

Well, garage says water pump needs replacing :-(

Of course I want it done properly, belts and all.

Just been quoted, what I feel is a heavy price for the job :-(

What sort of money should I be looking at for water pump, belts, tensioners etc fitted?

Ballpark, £350-400. I use a garage near me who does a full service with belts and waterpump etc for a very reasonable £500
