Head gasket or cylinder head problem

Hi, I have a1993 t4 campervan and it is blowing out plumes of White smoke and running like a dog with 3 legs. I am told its the head gasket by most of the people I have spoken to but someone said its a crack in the cylinder and not the gasket, is the only way to tell to get it tested or is there a simple fix. By the way the temperature has been 3/4 hot since I bought it and I have never heard the fans run would this be because of the gasket/head problem. Thank you for any advise.

My old 2.4 used to pressurise , that was a cracked cylinder in the end ... no harm in whipping the head off and having a look dude

It's just a quick test to make sure you barking up the right tree before taking head off.

Most of your local garages will test it. It isn't expensive or buy a cheap kit. There also call block testers.
