I am currently in Spain for the winter months. Spoke to a friend the other day and he tells me that in April the standard for emissions on MOT are to become much stricter for all vehicles like our old T4. He told me that they will probably no longer get a pass grade does anyone know if this is correct?

    I fucking hope not...

You have to feel a bit sorry for £10,000 van brigade, if that’s the case...

My tester says its visible smoke on vehicles with DPF older diesels aren't effected. Its a bit like how the petrol emissions work a lot stricter from 1st of august 1992 another change at about 1983 and 1972 backwards you can throw out almost what you like. There are lots of vehicles that are exempt of emissions all together kitcars for example. Ther are too many car nuts/collectors in high places for them to really try and get us off the roads.

It's still a draft proposal at the moment - possibly due to political timing with the Brexit hash and the Conservatives polling low so they're trying to kick "political negatives" into the long grass....

They started putting DPF's on in about 2006 Our 56 plate caddy doesn't have one. There are always tweeks to the mot rules.

I am sure that they will only make those changes to stricter emissions to the newer type cars and vans. As has been said, there are too many classic cars and vans on the road to blanket apply new rules, especially if the cars/vans are not going to be capable of achieving the lower emission results.

It's usually the case that changes to taxation is applied to new vehicles, where a vehicle is at present is usually where it stays. The only exceptions to this are the under over 1500cc thing, and the historic thing (which I have to say was a great feeling "can I buy one and get one free" cos both my scimitars at the time were taxed at the same time... one paid one free.

As mentioned before they will never get without older cars. In part because it would be an ecological disaster having to recycle all those vehicles, but also there's a lot of money in the classic/specialist vehicle market. We are quite lucky because at the moment our beloved T4s are just coming into their own, also as they are vw they will always have a following.

Problem is your right, they will push the electric shite until they discover It's dirty as anything else. It's amaizing that haven't just put money into clean green fuels for internal combustion engines.
